Industrial revolution: COVID edition

The fact that things change is not new, we always have opportunities to do things better, more equitably, and more efficiently. What we have now, is a unique opportunity to make our workplaces better. Not just for our clients, but for our colleagues. We can make work less time-consuming; we can make it more accessible; we can work from further away and we can work more collaboratively than ever before on documents simultaneously anywhere in the world.
There are many tools to accomplish remote work, from TeamViewer and Quick Assist to Microsoft 365 or Gsuite. But the real test of these tools is how we can make them work for our colleagues and our clients. That is why I am so excited about the new Millenium Micro Academy.
Millenium Micro has put together new training sessions that help us not just work our businesses, but work on our businesses. Finding efficiencies that apply to your daily workflow by leveraging hidden capacities within programs you already use and love. Whether you are a novice just picking up Teams for the first time or an early adopter, the learning objectives in this curriculum will help you work more efficiently. And efficiency is the name of the game! With so many people trying to do more with less it is more important than ever that the tools you use daily are working for you.
While training is one facet of our new mobile work strategies, we must also challenge the ways we do business. A thorough review of existing security practices, workflow structures, and tools can lead to extremely beneficial innovations! New employment structures for stay-at-home or part time employees can be leveraged to increase efficiency and empower employees to do their best work while keeping colleagues and loved ones safe. Non-traditional work hours for certain roles can allow businesses to keep great employees while they juggle the new challenges of home-life.
And I don’t know about you reader, but I know I’ve started to feel like I exist 90% as an email! Ensuring robust communication through video meetings can help with the emotional toll that working during a pandemic brings. I have even heard of some businesses subsidizing employee home internet bills to ensure connectivity at home!
The question then is; How are you going to make your business better for your clients and colleagues this month? Perhaps it starts with a socially distanced phone call with your local Millenium Micro Affiliate? Maybe a Teams meeting if you are feeling empowered? We won’t even ask if you are wearing pants. I promise.
